Mr. Hast was born in Worcester, Massachusetts and is a graduate of Worcester University and a U.S. Navy Veteran.  After graduation, he worked for Digital Equipment and later in the small business center at Fleet Bank.  In 2001, his wife’s father got sick so he moved from the suburbs of Boston to an Iowan cornfield to take care of her father.  He worked in credit card fraud detection at First Data.  George retired early to care for his ailing wife.  He spends his time bicycling around Lake Manawa and watching his beloved Red Sox on television and speaking at Toastmasters International and other groups such as Optimist clubs and the Urban League of Omaha.  Mr. Hast was a contributing author for the Alternative Book Club’s two books Spotlight on the Art of Grace and Spotlight on the Art of Resilience.
